NANO to XNO: Explained!

Unlike traditional cryptocurrencies, the Nano Foundation intends for NANO to be used and recognized as real money and therefore has introduced the new nano currency sign: XNO.

"We, at the Nano Foundation, are committed to equal economic opportunity and believe that nano, a currency to be spent, sent, and accepted as real money in the real world is the first step."

In order to do this Nano, the foundation must follow the requirements set by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), which develops and publishes worldwide technical, industrial, and commercial standards. The alphanumeric code requirements set by the ISO for the universal representation of currencies allow nano to join other globally accepted forms of money with a standard symbol and naming convention.

Nano is what is considered to be a ‘supranational’ currency with no official country code and therefore must begin with an ‘X’ as per the required standards for business and banking globally by ISO_4217 . The use of an initial letter “X” for these purposes is facilitated by the ISO 3166 rule that no official country code beginning with X will ever be assigned.

Therefore, NANO would be renamed to XNO and relisted on PocketBits accordingly.

If you hold NANO on PocketBits our team will take care of all the technicalities involved in this transition.
